About The Conference
At the start of April 2022, the Department of Social Development handed over the responsibility of early childhood development to the Department of Basic Education, paving the way for earlier schooling in South Africa. Early childhood represents a critical time to shape productivity, when the brain develops rapidly to build the foundation of cognitive and character skills necessary for success in school, health, career and life. The migration of ECD to the DoE provides an opportunity to craft and implement innovative strategies to strengthen foundational learning, looking at the continuum from birth to early grades.
